Nutrition – Nutritional Counseling

Nutrition Critical for Proper Health:

Most people realize that nutrition is an important aspect of their daily lives. These days it is faster and easier to get food fast, to go out, or even heat packaged foods. Not having to wait a few minutes to eat is certainly easier than to make dinner from scratch. For some, on a hot summer day, they prefer to spend money and get a cold glass of soda, rather than drink a large (healthy and free) glass of water. Many people opt for the convenience and flavor quality of their food  over it’s nutritional value.

Lack of Proper Nutrients:

Our country is supercharged and yet very malnourished. You may be wondering how it can be. How could we be eating too much and still starve? How can this be possible when most people around us are over weight?

It is just what we eat, not how much we eat and the nutritional value of what we eat. Often, nutritional nutritional foodsquality, and what we eat are two very different things. Do you think your diet is good?
What is a diet of packaged products, processed foods, refined sugar? Unfortunately, that is what many of us do.

Most processed foods have been stripped of nutritional value for flavor and  chemicals added longer storage times. When most are eating foods that contain very little nutritional value, it is not surprising that some people feel they are never satisfied. Your body is starving for something to eat due to consuming foods that are not offering quality food. It’s no wonder we gain so much weight, when you see how much many eat as their body seeks the right nutrients.

In 1976, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the corn syrup, high fructose, as safe for consumption. Since then, corn syrup, high fructose has become a very common additive in processed foods and beverages, including breads, cereals, cereal bars, meats, yogurts, soups, condiments, soft drinks, ice cream, etc. These foods are a big part of the typical American diet.

The United States has the growth rate of the fastest fast food restaurants in the world! Only the U.S., consumers spent about $ 110 billion of fast food in 2000, which increased from U.S. $ 6 billion in 1970.

On average, more than 56 gallons of soda consumed per person each year. Only 26.1 gallons of bottled water consumed per person each year.

Alarming Statistics:

The rate of obesity has more than doubled in the United States over the past 20obeasity stats years. About 60 million adults, or 30% of the adult population is obese. The percentage of overweight children in the United States is increasing at an alarming rate, with 1 to 3 children are considered overweight or obese.

The U.S. is ranked # 1 in obesity worldwide. According to recent studies, obesity rates should increase until it peaks at about 42% of the population.

Only 25% of adults consume the recommended diet of five or more servings of fruits and vegetables every day, and even children under comply with this requirement.

Is it meaningful to you how your body can be supercharged, but starving inside? Nutrition or lack of nutrition in your diet can play an important role in your health and weight.
How does good nutrition or malnutrition affect our health?

The foods we eat are not the only problem. Physical activity in this country is at historically low levels. Over 50% of American adults do not get the recommended amount of physical activity and more than one-third of young people of the 9 th -12 are rarely involved in physical activity. Therefore, we not only have poor nutrition, but we are not  involved in the type of activities that can help us maintain a healthy body or a healthy weight. The combined effect can be devastating.

problems caused by obeasityType 2 diabetes – once thought to affect only adults – is now being diagnosed among young people. 61% of overweight 5 to 10 years have at least one risk factor for heart disease, and 26% have two or more risk factors.

Annual hospital costs related to overweight children, obese adolescents has exploded in past several decades.Recent studies have quoted figures as high as $100 billion due to obesity against $ 35 million in 1979-1981 and this rate is increasing every day! Overweight children are much more likely to become overweight adults unless they adopt and maintain healthier patterns of eating and exercise. Studies have shown that a child who is obese between the ages of 10 and 13 has an 80 percent chance of becoming an obese adult.

These are some are some frightening statistics.

You are what you eat. When you make the decision of poor nutrition to eat poorly, over time, your body will suffer. Want proof? Just look at our country’s diet and the state of health in our country. We are an overfed and undernourished at the moment.
