Most of the time, more than one acupuncture treatment is needed to relieve symptoms and keep them from returning. As you would expect, the sooner you get treatment for an issue the fewer acupuncture treatments you will need to treat it. Any issue that has been around for six months or less is considered an acute condition. You can expect to have somewhere around 10 treatments for an acute condition, but you will usually begin to feel relief after the first treatment. Issues that have been around longer than six months are generally considered chronic conditions. These conditions normally take longer to respond and require more than 10 treatments, depending on the type, severity, and duration of the condition.
You will be given specific recommendations at your first visit as to how often you should be treated for your condition. To get quick relief and the best possible outcome, it is usually best to schedule acupuncture treatments twice a week for the first 1-3 weeks. Once symptoms begin to subside, treatments will be reduced to once a week. For chronic conditions, which may require more treatment, visits will be reduced to once every 2-3 weeks after the patient sees significant improvement in their condition. Preventative treatments and treatments for general well-being may also be scheduled on an as-needed basis.
The effects of acupuncture are cumulative when it is administered frequently. This means each treatment will build on the effects of the last treatment, which is necessary to achieve optimal healing. The effects of acupuncture treatment only accumulate when acupuncture is administered frequently. If treatments are spaced too far apart initially, patients may get temporary symptom relief but will lose the cumulative benefits.
Initial visits typically run between 60 and 90 minutes. The first half hour is spent reviewing your health history and gathering more information through physical examination. Once the needles are inserted, you will rest comfortably for about 30 minutes with the needles in place. Many people find acupuncture treatment deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time. During your visit, you will be given recommendations for diet and lifestyle changes to facilitate healing and support well-being.
In order to get the most out of the investment you are making in your health, it is best to follow the recommendations below.

“I had 10/10 pain in me neck for several years. After trying cortisone injections to manage the pain I started seeing Rebecca twice a week for acupuncture. She prescribed herbs too and after 2 months my pain was completely gone. It has now been two years and the pain has not returned. I continued seeing Rebecca for depression and adrenal fatigue with fantastic results.”

“Rebecca is amazing. I had terrible facial pain for almost 10 years from trigeminal neuralgia. I was on multiple medications for the pain, which were causing very unpleasant side effects. After one treatment my pain was gone. With continued treatment I was able to get off all of my medications.”
